High Potential Staff

Developing Leaders for 2018 and Beyond

Developing high potential staff into leaders is becoming a key strategic issue for business success and organisational continuity. Those who can demonstrate leadership will become increasingly valued and sought after in the modern economy.

A progressively turbulent and uncertain commercial environment characterised by increased local and global competition and technological disruption is forcing organisations to be more adaptable and to deliver quality products and services in a timely and unique fashion. As well as the impending departure of huge amounts of knowhow, skill and experience that demographic trends are creating, the pool of talent to fill this vacuum is becoming smaller. Organisations who grow leaders who can find innovative ways to create value and lead others through change will be better prepared for these future challenges.

Designed for high potential staff, this two part workshop series aims to go beyond technical skills by examining core leadership skills – how to get the best out of yourself and others and how to develop a high performing team. Foundational leadership theories are combined with practical tools that can be immediately applied to work. Presented in an informative, interactive and enjoyable style this series also offers the opportunity for participants to discuss relevant issues and network with others at a similar career stage. If you have high potential staff or have future leadership ambitions yourself, this one day series is an ideal start for a leadership journey.

Workshop 1 – Understanding yourself as a leader

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is the world’s most widely used psychometric assessment and is used extensively for leadership development. Through the creation of a common language that illuminates aspects of performance that otherwise go unarticulated, MBTI provides a pathway for continued leadership development. Simply put, those who have a greater understanding of themselves and of those they work with are better leaders.

This workshop will increase your:

  • awareness of personal leadership strengths and areas for development
  • awareness of your colleagues’ strengths and areas for development
  • understanding of communication skills and strategies that will allow improved leadership performance.

Workshop 2 – Creating a high performing team

Team effectiveness can make or break an organisation’s success, so the ability to develop and maintain a high performing team is a key skill for emerging leaders. It’s a skill often forgotten in the fast paced and task orientated modern work environment. However, if focused on, nurtured and developed, teamwork can become a competitive advantage and take your organisation to ‘next level’ performance.

This workshop will increase your:

  • appreciation of the critical factors that make or break team effectiveness
  • ability to apply a model of high performing teams to your specific work context
  • awareness of how your personal style impacts the development of your team.
